Stress Management Tips
Stress at work can be caused by a variety of factors depending on the kind of environment you work in. For example a factory worker might find that they become stressed by the constant noise of the machinery or the demand for finished products by other departments in the factory, whereas workers in an office environment might be bombarded with phone calls and interruptions by other colleagues who need advice or a finished report.

Tips for Managing Stress at Work
There are some stressful factors that all workers suffer from at some point in their working life regardless of what type of job they do and these include:
- Feeling overworked and underappreciated.
- Clashing with colleagues and supervisors because of a difference in opinion or values.
- Lack of job satisfaction.
- Having too much work piled on you so that you have to work longer hours in order to get it finished on time.
- Having your working hours changed to meet the demands of the company without your agreement.
- Feeling that you have no control over your work life.
Nearly everyone has to deal with these issues at one time or another. Although these vary from workplace to workplace, individuals react in different ways. Even so, they all produce stress.
To prevent stress from building up you first need to realize what it is that is causing you the most tension and stress. Next you need to try and avoid it so that each day runs as smoothly as possible.
If you know you’re going to be assigned two projects with the same deadline try to swap with a colleague for one with a different deadline.
You may feel that you have been assigned more work than you can possibly do by yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask for help; it will be easier for the boss to give you an assistant for a few days than to explain to a client why the work is late.
It may be that you genuinely dislike your job and feel so undervalued that you simply want to get away. If you have constantly been assigned more work than your colleagues you may start to feel that you are being targeted for some reason.
Talk to your boss about how you feel before you do anything rash. It may be that they don’t know how much work is actually being assigned to you and that they can change things so that the workload between you and your colleagues is more evenly spread.
Alternatively take a vacation and relax for a couple of weeks. Things always look different when you have had a good rest and some quality time away.
Whatever it is that causes you stress at work, try to find a way to reduce it before deciding to leave. Learning how to cope with stress early in your working life will help you tremendously later on.
